The NAU Lumberjack Scholarship for Nursing is a competitive scholarship available to undergraduate students majoring in nursing at Northern Arizona University. The scholarship is intended to support, encourage, and reward exceptional nursing students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, dedication to the field of nursing, and leadership potential. The scholarship is open to all undergraduate nursing students who have completed at least one semester at NAU and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.
Award recipients will receive $2,000 per academic year, renewable up to three years based on academic performance and continued commitment to the field of nursing. Recipients must remain enrolled in the nursing program throughout the duration of the scholarship and make satisfactory academic progress toward completion of the degree program.
In addition to the monetary award, the NAU Lumberjack Scholarship for Nursing provides recipients with a range of other opportunities to become more involved in the university, the College of Health and Human Services, and the nursing program. Recipients will be offered special mentorship from faculty members and involvement in faculty research opportunities, as well as special consideration for select nursing–related campus events, such as conferences and presentations. The NAU Lumberjack Scholarship for Nursing is intended to support and reward exceptional students and to help them achieve their educational and professional goals.
- Must be a full-time student majoring in Nursing at Northern Arizona University.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Must have at least one year of college nursing experience or have completed one or more Nursing courses.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Must provide two letters of recommendation from a professor, clinical supervisor, or employer.
- Must submit a 500-word essay on why you believe you deserve the scholarship.
- Must submit a copy of your official transcript.
How to apply
The NAU Lumberjack Scholarship for Nursing is administered through the Northern Arizona University (NAU) Foundation. To apply for the scholarship, you must first complete the online NAU Scholarship Application. The NAU Scholarship Application is open from October 1st through March 1st each year. Once you have submitted the application, you must submit two letters of recommendation, an essay and unofficial transcripts to the NAU Foundation. The essay should include why you are interested in nursing and how the scholarship will help you achieve your goals. Once all materials are received, the NAU Foundation will review your application and select the scholarship recipients.
