Brief Description: The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (Vanier CGS) was established to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and to establish Canada as a global center of excellence in research and higher education. Scholarships go toward a doctoral degree (or a combined MA / PhD or MD / PhD). Host Institution (s): Canadian universities with a Vanier CGS Award. Without exception, Vanier CGS is durable only at the qualified Canadian facility that submitted the candidate.
Level / field of study: Doctoral programs (or combined MA / PhD or MD / PhD) in health sciences; scientific and / or technical research; and degree in social sciences and / or humanities A qualified doctoral program must include a major research component leading to the completion of a dissertation, major research project, dissertation, scientific publication, presentation, preamble and / or exhibition at institutional level as a prerequisite for program implementation.
Joint degree programs with a professional degree (eg MD / PhD, DVM / PhD, JD / PhD) as well as clinically oriented study programs, including clinical psychology, are also eligible if they have a significant autonomous research component, as described above. .
Number of Grants: Up to 166 grants are awarded annually Target Audience: Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, and foreigners may be nominated to the Vanier CGS.
Grant Value / Duration: Grants are valued at $ 50,000 per year for three years.
Eligibility: To qualify for the Vanier CGS, you must: • have only one Canadian facility that must have a Vanier CGS quota;
• Complete the first doctoral degree (including joint basic education / training research training, for example: MD / PhD, DVM / PhD, JD / PhD – if it has a proven and significant research component). Please note that only the doctoral part of the combined degree is eligible;
