Manchester United have wasted little time in the transfer market following the conclusion of Euro 2020.
Over the last week, Old Trafford chiefs have stepped up their pursuit of priority defensive target Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho underwent a medical ahead of completing his £73million transfer.
The Red Devils are not stopping there, either, as they are preparing to further bolster their backline by signing Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid.
They have also been dealt a boost in the fiercely-competitive race to sign Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga, while Houssem Aouar is being lined up at a bargain price.
Camavinga boost as Rennes look elsewhere
Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of Rennes starlet Eduardo Camavinga, as the French club may be searching for a replacement midfielder.
Camavinga, 18, is one of the most sought-after teenagers in world football after bursting onto the scene in the 2019/20 season and making his senior France debut at the age of 17.
He has just one year remaining on his contract with the Ligue 1 side and will be available for no fee next summer unless he agrees to new terms.
But it appears Rennes may be looking to recoup some transfer funds by selling Camavinga while they still can, as they have entered negotiations with AZ Alkmaar to sign Teun Koopmeiners, reports Foot Mercato .
Unfortunately for United, this latest update will also come as good news to Camavinga’s other suitors, chief among which are Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Recent reports have also suggested the player would be most keen on move to Spain to either Real Madrid or Barcelona
Trippier hopeful of Old Trafford switch
Kieran Trippier is keen to end months of speculation by finally joining Manchester United this summer, according to the Manchester Evening News .
The Atletico Madrid right-back won La Liga last season but favours a return to the Premier League two years on from leaving Tottenham Hotspur.
The report adds Trippier has made arrangements to move to Manchester and he is a boyhood United fan.
The 30-year-old has one year remaining on his deal in the Spanish capital, where Atletico are coming under pressure to offload him.
A transfer fee of £18million has been touted and the England international – who helped the Three Lions reach the Euro 2020 final – is believed to be confident the deal will be completed.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, meanwhile, reportedly has a plan to fit Trippier and Aaron Wan-Bissaka into his starting XI.
Red Devils join Aouar race
Manchester United are one of a host of Premier League clubs eyeing a cut-price bid for Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar, reports ESPN .
The 23-year-old came close to joining Arsenal last year but the two clubs were unable to agree a suitable fee.
The Gunners remain interested in Aouar as Lyon’s revised asking price is said to be as low as €25million (£21m), while United face further competition from Liverpool and Tottenham.
